Fake cases from ChatGPT. Is this the future?

I read something this week that stopped me cold.

Two attorneys in a personal injury case against Walmart used AI to write their legal filing—and the AI completely made up the cases it cited. Not just one. Multiple. Fictional cases that never existed.
Here’s the story from Reuters if you want to read it →

When the judge asked them for the full legal opinions, they couldn’t provide them—because they were fake. Fabricated by the chatbot. They admitted it. Their client’s case is now at serious risk. And let’s be honest—so is their reputation.

I can’t tell you how much this bothers me.

Because I know what it’s like when someone comes to me after being seriously hurt. I know what it means to lose work, lose mobility, rack up medical bills, and just hope that someone will take your case seriously.

To find out your lawyer couldn’t even take the time to check if the cases they cited were real? That’s not just sloppy. That’s betrayal.

Here’s How I Work

When you hire me, you’re not getting a machine. You’re not getting a junior associate. You’re getting me.

I research my cases the old-fashioned way—by reading the law.

I dig into the facts. I work with doctors, specialists, and accident investigators.

And when I go up against an insurance company or a corporation like Walmart, I come prepared. With real precedent. Real evidence. And a real human being standing next to you, fighting for what you deserve.

I know AI is here to stay. I use it sometimes for brainstorming or organizing notes. But I don’t—and won’t—use it to write your legal arguments.

Not without checking every word.

Because your case is too important for shortcuts.

You Deserve Better

If you’re reading this because you’re hurting—because someone’s negligence turned your life upside down—I want you to know something:

I won’t hand your future over to a robot.

I won’t gamble your case to save a few hours.

I won’t treat your pain like paperwork.

I’ll do the work. I’ll know your case inside and out. And I’ll fight like hell to get you every dollar you’re owed.

That’s my promise.
